About the Author

Tom Sutak is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and is a retired criminologist, security industry executive and community college instructor. He has been studying Death Valley history and natural history for over forty years. Using his skills as an investigator, the author spent ten years visiting sites, traveling trails, and visiting libraries and archives while researching Jefferson Hunt’s life from 1846 through 1857. Sutak’s work has been published in the Journal of Mormon History and the Proceedings of the Sixth Death Valley History Conference.
